Journal: Indian Drugs (Vol.53, No. 4)Publication Date: 2016-04-28
Abstract
Objectives: The aim of the present research work was to investigate and estimate the content of quercetin in Psidium guajava leaves extract. Psidium guajava Linn (Myrtaceae) has been used as traditional medicine. Comparative study of hydroalcoholic and methanolic extract was carried out to investigate and estimate the content of Quercetin. From IR characterisation, TLC and UV determination of standard quercetin it was confirmed that quercetin is present in Psidium guajava leaves extract. In hydroalcoholic extract it was found to be 9.1 (μg/ml) and in methanolic extract it was found to be 7.55(μg/ml).
