Abstract
Proceeding from the objective conditions of greatest interest is the optimization of the resource potential, the basis of which are the determinants of competitiveness and revealing the prospect of its development. Today the city should make better use of available resource potential and apply the complex mechanisms that will contribute to improving the competitiveness of their economies. According to the research results, the most rapidly changes are occurring in the economy of cities, which are the engines of economic restructuring: the cities structural changes become the main direction of development. Under appropriate circumstances such cities may become by points of economic transformation of the country in hole.
