Abstract
Momeric group 12 metal complexes [M(R-C6H4-COO)2(5-NO2-phen)] [M=Zn, R=NMe2 (1) and M=Cd, R=NH2 (2)] have been synthesized from a reaction between the metal acetate, donor substituted carboxylic acid and 5-nitro-1,10-phenathroline (5-NO2-Phen) at room temperature. Both complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy studies. Compound 1 showed more potent anti-fungal activity when compared to standard drug fluconazole and demonstrated MIC at concentration 1.6 µg/ml, 25 µg/ml, 0.4 µg/ml, 3.12 µg/ml against K. pneumonia, Pseudomonas, S. aureus, S. mutans respectively.
