Abstract
Abstract. A study concerning the effect of the learning model of problem solving in the subject matter of salt hydrolysis. This study aimed to determine (1) the difference between the critical thinking skills that students learn to use themodel of Problem Solving (experimental class) with students who learn using conventional learning (control class), (2) the difference logical-mathematical intelligence between the experimental class students and classes control, (3) the difference between student's mastery of the concept of experimental class and the control class, (4) the relationship of critical thinking skills and logical-mathematical intelligence with student's mastery of concepts. The research method used was a quasi experiment. Research sample is class XI Science SMAN 2 Banjarmasin which consists of class XI IPA 2 as control class (n =30) and class XI IPA 3 as the experimental class (n =31). Data collection using achievement tests, critical thinking test and questionnaires. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test, ANOVA test, and multiple correlation test. The results showed that (1) there are differences in critical thinking skills between the experimental class students with control class, (2) there is a logical-mathematical intelligence differences between the experimental class students with control class, (3) there is a difference between the students' mastery of concepts and the experimental class with control class, (4) there is a relationship of critical thinking skills and logical-mathematical intelligence with the concept of student mastery.
