Abstract
The policy of neutrality was a consequence of the pre-war policy, aimed at strengthening sovereignty and resulting in the increase of nationalism that was associated with the participation in the hostilities on the side of the British. The assessment expressed by politicians and experts is extremely contradictory and ambiguous: from accusations of complicity with Nazi Germany to admire her courageous opposition to the pressure of England.
