Abstract
The article highlights the main directions and results of the rural Yakutia studies of social problems in academic institutions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Special attention is given to little-studied aspects of ethno-demographic and cultural development of indigenous peoples of the North. The issues of socio-political history of the Arctic territories of the Republic are raises.
