Abstract
The intercellular adhesion molecule I (ICAM-1) is also known as CD54 is a transmembrane glycoprotein of 70 to 110 kDa belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily of the adhesion molecules, it is formed of five extracellular domains and a short cytoplasmic tail Linked to cytoskeletal proteins. It is expressed on the surface of different cells such as monocytes, macrophages, activated T cells, B cells, Peyer patches, and some epithelial cells.
