THE EVOLUTION OF PLANNING UNITS IN CONTEMPORARY URBAN PLANNING PRACTICE

This article attempts to examine modern versions of the residential units in urban development planning practice. The article explores the transformation of modern processes of residential planning units, reveals the latest versions and trends. It was revealed that at present have developed new morphotypes, such as «district-neighborhood», «neighborhood-quarter», «neighborhood-community»; the redistribution of functions from the periphery to the center has developed a type of residential planning units as «transport-oriented»; due to the development of applied aspects of humanistic outlook povilis «community of communities». The conclusion is that the emergence of new versions of the residential units in the planning of modern urban planning practice attests to their viability and the need to identify trends and development principles. The emergence and introduction of new versions of residential planning units in modern town planning practice testifies to the viability of the planning concepts of the 20th century and the need to identify trends and principles for their development.
