Abstract
India has become the second highest emerging nation because construction industry has attributed lot to it. Structural steel sections are generally used for construction of buildings, communication towers, industrial sheds etc. The design methodology of these structures involves several equations and parameters which make the design process a multifaceted and tiresome job. Also design being a cyclic process is very tedious in nature. For this reason use of design tool can decrease the time and effort of an engineer significantly. The compactness and flexibility makes design tool one of the best choices for an engineer. So in this paper the aim is to prepare the design tool application which entails a detailed design of structural steel components as per Indian steel code. Visual Basic 6.0 programming language is used for development of design tool. The outcome of this project will be a design tool, which can be practically used by an engineer to check the steel sections design status and to have balance among safety and economy.
