Abstract
Currently, total joint replacement is the most effective method in the surgical treatment of degenerative diseases, cancer lesions and injuries of the hip joint. However, total joint arthroplasty in ankylosis is complex due to cicatricial degeneration of the joint capsule, ligaments, muscle atrophy and degeneration of bone tissue, expressed disruption of the anatomic relationship between the tissues of the hip joint. Ankylosis of the hip joint in a vicious position, usually a position of considerable flexion, and often simultaneous rotation makes it very difficult walking, causing lameness. Excessive adduction of the hip in women prevents sexual intercourse. And if a bilateral ankylosis of the hip joint in an erect position of the limb permits walking with bilateral ankylosis in a vicious position, it is almost impossible. In the article a clinical case is described: 53-year old female patient with bilateral bony ankyloses with the underlying rheumatoid polyarthritis. The patient was successively made total replacement of ankylosed hip joints by cemented implants of production of СJSC «TREK-E-KOMPOZIT» (Russia) with good medium-term result that allowed to recommend total arthroplasty for the treatment of this disease
