THE EFFECT OF SCHOOL VARIABLES ON EFFICIENCY IN EDUCATION

Abstract
This study, aiming at determining the effect of school variables on efficiency in education, based on teachers' conceptions, has been conducted using general survey model. Data for the research have been gathered via surveys from 234 teachers working at primary and secondary schools in center of Şanlıurfa, in first semester of the 2010-2011 academic year. According to the results, teachers have specified all the factors affecting school efficiency as important, on physical structure, teacher qualifications, student properties, management approach and school-family cooperation. Teacher conceptions, concerning specification of factors that affect school efficiency, have varied in favor of teachers who keep up with innovations in their fields and follow more number of journals. In the research, it has been recommended that schoolsshould renew themselves in accordance with changing conditions, in order to ensure efficiency.
