Abstract
Under the influence of the information policy of the majority of mass media, national identity is increasingly associated with the affiliation of confessional. The article reveals the relationship of religion and ethnic communities in modern Russia. The results of sociological research on the materials of the republics of Southern Siberia (Altai, Tuva, Khakassia) are presented, which confirms the need to use the concept of ethnoconfessional identity.
