Abstract
The purpose of this article is to clarify the content of the basic concepts, criteria, indicators of the quality of General education in the regional society of contemporary Russian society. The authors presented a matrix outlining the main areas of research the quality of General education, is substantiated by sociological cri- teria of quality of General education. Methodological tools for monitoring quality of General education was used by the authors on the basis of educational institutions of the Penza region (January – November 2016). The re- vealed correlation between the quality of schools and types of schools, as well as financial security of the fami- lies of students. Developed recommendations for monitoring the quality of General education for the educational institutions in the region of the Russian Federation
