Abstract
The article treats an academic ethnographer, folklorist, linguist and public figure A. Y. Bohdanovych, a special place of whose life belonged to bibliophilism. We have covered A. Y. Bohdanovych biography, observed the sources of his bibliophilism. We have given general characteristics of A. Y. Bohdanovych librarian gathering both the one perished in the fire and the last one. We have analyzed the quantative and qualitative composition of his private library, specified the most valuable and rare editions of A. Y. Bohdanovych gathering, in particular the editions of XIX century writers published during his life. We have paid particular attention to the section «Belarus Studies» with its books in the region history, Belarusian literature studies, linguistics and fiction. A. Y. Bohdanovych is also presented as a talented publicist, who wrote more than a hundred articles, essays and features concerning various issues of public life: enlightenment, drama, literature, socio-economic and cultural issues of peasant population in the postreform period.
