Abstract
A simple, yet efficient system for the surface roughness measurement of metal round work-pieces using laser scattering method is developed. The system is designed to be mounted on lathe machines and it features non-contact and real time measurement. It also allows the user to take measurements online (while machining) and offline (after machining). The system uses LabVIEW for its user interface and it is able to record the measurement data.
