Abstract
In this paper, we consider the moment generating functions (MGFs) of generalized fading channels. Specifically, new closed-form expressions, in terms of Meijer’s G-function/Fox’s H-function, for the MGFs of the h − m and k − m fading channels are derived. Note that, the MGFs of some special fading distributions such as Nakagami-m, Nakagsmi-q (Hoyt), and Nakagsmi-n (Rice) can be deduced using our results. To validate the accuracy of our mathematical analysis, we then present some computer-based simulations in terms of average bit error rate (BER) for a wide range of the fading parameters considering both channels. Our analytical and simulation results agree very well with those previously reported in the literature.
