Abstract

Reinforced concrete structures became a real breakthrough in the 19th century. Now almost all construction projects are built of this material. About two billion cubic meters of reinforced concrete products are produced every day in the world. Reinforced concrete has important advantages as a high frost resistance, rigidity, water resistance and fire resistance. Also this material has some disadvantages as heaviness, susceptibility to corrosion, probability of cracking before loading. The main purpose of this article is to determine the correct methods for strengthening reinforced concrete structures under special operating conditions and detailed analysis of these methods based on the results of a comprehensive engineering survey of the reinforced concrete coal tower No. 5, coke oven battery No. 9 of coke shop No. 4 of JSC «Avdeevsky Coke Plant». The article shows the strengthening of reinforced concrete walls of a collapsed coal tower by using a metal frame, composite tape and by erection an additional concreting along the perimeter of walls. Such tasks as identifying the advantages and disadvantages of methods for strengthening reinforced concrete structures under special operating conditions of the structure for eliminating structural damage, increase its bearing capacity and extend the service life are solved in the article.
