Abstract
The article examines allusions in the novel "My Sister's Keeper" by American contemporary writer Jodi Picoult. The novel is filled with allusions to ancient myths. Biblical allusion, put in the title, immediately outlines the main dilemma of the book: does a person have the right to decide whom to bestow a life, and from whom to take, especially if this person is a child? The author raises questions that are relevant to modern society and touches on issues related to medical ethics, the legal aspects of organ transplantation, etc. In the novel the author also examines the moral aspects of the notions of "good parent", "good brother/sister", and raises the question of how far one can go in the natural desire to save the child
