Abstract
The effect of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) supplementation on superoxide dismutase аnd catalase activities as well as the level of alpha-tocopherol and ascorbate were monitored in mitochondrial fraction of rat liver and Guerin's carcinoma. It was shown that ω-3 PUFAs administration resulted in an increased activity of antioxidant enzymes and the level of alpha-tocopherol and ascorbate in hepatic mitochondria fraction of rats with tumor during the logarithmic phase of tumor growth. ω-3 PUFAs supplementation before and after transplantation of Guerin's carcinoma resulted in the decrease of superoxide dismutase and catalase activity and the content of alpha-tocopherol and ascorbate in Guerin's carcinoma mitochondrial fraction in the logarithmic phases of oncogenesis.
