Abstract
Pollution which is caused by heavy metals like Mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb), Arsenic(As), Zinc(Zn), Manganese (Mn), Chromium(Cr) and Copper(Cu),Nickel (Ni), Iron (Fe), is the worldwide phenomenon, They enters into environment through the discharge of industrial effluents, mining projects burning of fossil fuels, leaching from soil to lakes, excessive fertilizers and through acid rains etc, the fact is as long as they are in permissible levels they are most essential minerals for the growth of animals, plants and human beings but when they cross their permissible levels they create disturbances to eco system. The present study is carried out at Singrayakonda mandal of prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh state, In this study total 200 samples were collected, 25 samples from each village. After analysis of heavy metals concentration in groundwater they are projected in spatial distribution maps for estimating and monitoring the quality of groundwater at study area.
