Abstract
The coupled shear walls are efficient structural system for the resistance of lateral loads. The coupled shear walls are vertical shear walls, elevator cores with openings connected together by slabs or beams. Is in the present work, the behavior of the reinforced concrete elevator cores of multistory building, which consists of two U-shapes in the plan monolithic walls, connected at slab levels by beams under the seismic loads is investigated. Approximately seismic load is considered varying linearly laterally the height of walls with zero value at base.
