Abstract
There is a Sanskrit phrase which says ―Pitru Devo Bhao‖ and ―Matru Devo Bhav‖, clarifies the emotion associated with the parents. We all know that India has had a long-standing custom of providing older persons a place of respect in all basis of life. Still, the circumstances and status of the older persons in the contemporary society is being undermined due to various reasons including the breakdown of the joint family system. But presently in the nuclear family system, the care of the aged by children‘s as burden. As a result of this, there is shifting of responsibilities from family members to public or commercial organizations. Hence different legislation and welfare schemes and policies for older persons have been evolved and implemented by the Government. The objective of this paper is to analyse the support systems offered by the Indian Constitution, law, agendas and planning for the fine being of the older one.
