THE CONCEPT OF THE WORD "HISTORY" IN THE LINGUISTIC CONSCIOUSNESS OF RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH NATIVE SPEAKERS

The aim of our research is full and adequate presentation of the concept of “History” in the conscious- ness of a Russian-speaking person in comparison with English. To reach this aim we set the following tasks. Firstly, to analyze scientific literature on the research topic. Secondly, to find the particularity of representation of the concept “History” in Russian and English linguistic cultures based on the materials of vocabulary entries. Thirdly, to conduct directed and associative experiments among the Russian and English speakers and to use associative vocabulary and thesauruses of the Russian and English languages. The associative experiment occu- pies an important place in the linguistic consciousness since it allows to approach the mental language, culture stereotypes and verbal memory of nation
