Abstract
The author investigates techniques of overcoming a psychological barrier when studying the English language (which is nowadays a serious problem at school) by introducing literary texts of English authors into didactical framework of the lessons. The purpose of the article is to outline techniques for solving this problem, to show ways of generating interest and increasing motivation for acquisition of knowledge in the subject based on direct and indirect comparison of the two cultures in general, and the two languages in particular (Russian and English). In this case usage of classical English literature plays a key role in teaching and educational process.
