Strategi Pengelolaan Perpustakaan dalam Rangka Meningkatkan Minat Kunjung Siswa di MAN-1 Medan

This article is based on research which aimed at finding out the strategy of library operation of MAN-1 Medan in improving students' interest in visiting the library. The main focuses of this research are: 1) The strategy of library operation of MAN-1 Medan; 2) Improving students' interest in visiting the library; 3) Supporting factors in carrying out the strategy; and, 4) Obstacles faced in carrying out the strategy. This naturalistic qualitative research found that: 1) The strategy used in library operation of MAN-1 Medan has been good. This can be identified from the service provided by the librarians to the students visiting the library. 2) The efforts to improve library visit by the students are shared responsibilities of the Headmaster, Chief Librarian, the librarians, and teachers in conducting library orientation for all new students. 3) The supporting factors in carrying out the strategy is by providing library facilities and acquiring more new book collection, either from the government or alumni. 4) The main obstacle faced in carrying out the strategy is lack of fund to acquire new collection.
