Abstract
The research considers the features of choosing the optimal cutting speed for high-speed milling. High intermittence of the milling process of thin-walled parts leads to a decrease of the temperature of the tool in comparison with conventional milling. Therefore, the cutting temperature is no longer a limiting factor affecting the tool life. On the foreground, the provision of vibration resistance processing comes. It is shown that the amplitude of oscillations of a thin-walled component essentially depends on the rotational speed of the spindle, and not on the cutting speed. Thus, in case of processing thin-walled parts or milling geometrically-complex surfaces, the optimum cutting speed should be selected according to the chatter stability conditions of the machining, rather than from the range of values from the reference literature.
