Abstract

Social activity as a constituent of social behavior is determined by a number of congenital and acquired personality traits. In this context, an individual manifestation of social activity should be considered as a genetically determined and phenotypically fixed in the ontogenesis property characterized by a stable combination of behavioral characteristics. The aim of the work was to develop methodology of complex evaluation of expressiveness and direction of social activity of an individual. Into the study 98 individuals were included, men and women of 18-23 years of age, students of Volgograd State University. The requirements of the “Universal Declaration of Bioethics and Human Rights” in part of articles 5, 6, 7 were satisfied, and informed written consents were obtained. At the first, theoretical stage of the study, on the basis of generalization of the existing approaches to investigation of social behavior the questionnaire was prepared for evaluation of the extent of manifestation of the social activity of an individual in six positions: behavioral activity, social activity proper, professional activity, economic activity, political activity, social destructiveness. The testing procedure suggested unambiguous answers “yes” or “no” to forty eight questions concerning the above mentioned positions of social behavior (eight questions for each position). At the second, experimental stage of the study, interrelations between the proposed parameters of social activity and standard parameters of the human psychological status were studied. Here, typological parameters of the higher nervous activity in most kinds of social activity are characterized by stable combinations of their manifestations confirming expressiveness of activity of an individual by negative connection with the force of inhibition and positive connections with the force of excitation, mobility and balance of the nervous system. A direct, statistically significant connection between social activity, extraversion and neurotism substantiates methodological adequacy of the proposed method of evaluation of different directions of social activity of an individual. The proposed system of differentiation of the extent of expressiveness of the behavioral activity provides, in addition to quantitative evaluation, a possibility for qualitative typologization of individual manifestation of expressiveness and direction of the social activity of an individual.
