Abstract
Described are the prevalent textual means, which affect the recipient's mind: structural-semantic layout of the text and use of dialogic methods of text composition. The author proves that the structural-semantic layout of the text exerts control influence upon its understanding. Important features of this layout are information richness of the text which includes three types of information - cognitive, reflective, and regulatory, and regular distribution of this information across the text. Dialogic text possesses all constitutional characteristics of the text proper, i.e. information value, structural properties, integrity, connectedness etc., but it features better communicative orientation, pronounced address, personification, and comparison of different semantic positions. It purposes at inciting formation of the new knowledge, attitude, and judgment in the recipient, i.e. not only at informing the subject, but at his/her personal development as well.
