Abstract

Development in any scientific domain may be customized in psychology. This applies especially to research of culture, as cultural issues intertwined with psychological ones. At the same time, the development of science, engineering and mathematics is associated with their interaction with the humanities. A mediator of such interaction may be the concept of «modus of culture», by which we define any component of culture that implements reproductive and productive functions. Processes of functioning of culture are described as changes in its modi, and, as a formalized description, are presented by functions of sets. We consider the set of culture's modi which are in certain relations. Methodological starting point is a concept of structure, as it is used in set theory. A version of formalized description of cultural processes is presented in the typology of cultural processes with mental components. The description of cultural processes components of which are semiotic systems is given. Any cultural process can be considered as caused by the preceding ones and as a precondition for subsequent ones. That is exemplified by analysis of cultural processes' sequences. We consider the universality of the proposed approach in a possibility of constructing on its basis logically relevant descriptions of the culture's components, including being studied in psychological science. Due to this the possibility of building a unified system of theoretical psychology expands. Also is reached the attenuating of negative consequences of conceptual and terminological polysemy associated with peculiarities of national languages and scientific schools, while maintaining their constructive contributions.
