Abstract
Sorbents of cellulose nature attract attention of researchers all over the world, despite the relatively low equilibrium-kinetic characteristics. They are ecological friendly and possess a number of undeniable advantages: availability and renewability of raw materials. Cellulose-containing materials of plant origin are very promising for wastewater treatment from heavy metal ions. Swelling polymers are of particular interest as new sorption materials capable of efficient sorption of toxic and valuable metals from industrial effluents.
