TWO SIDES OF REPRESENTATION OF SELF: SELF-PRESENTATION AND SELF-DISCLOSURE

Abstract
The article analyzes the phenomena of self-presentation (as the process and the result of the intentional or not introducing of self to the significant others during interpersonal communication, the essence of which – the manipulation by the impression, creation the image, influencing other people for the purpose to achieve the desired) and self-disclosure (which is interpreting as the process and result of a voluntary message to another person's personal important information, which allows to penetrate in the understanding of human essence, what she is in reality; and self-disclosure is an integral component and a precondition of the process of self-actualization of personality in the humanistic paradigm of psychology) as important components of social life and interpersonal interaction; points of view of different scientists; the history of their research; considered their types, levels, specific manifestations and consequences for interpersonal relationships; the results of the investigation of the process of self-disclosure in psychotherapy; it is shown that there are as resistant internal components, a little modified over time and in different circumstances, and the situational unstable – the situation itself and the object of the above-mentioned processes in self-presentation, so as in the self-disclose; their purposes, interrelation and connection with the concepts of self-monitoring and manipulation; value for personal development were defined. It is concluded that both concepts are the extremes of the continuum, which is contently united by the concept of «self-expression», and each person chooses a place on this continuum herself, building relationships with other people: tending to the self-presentation or to the self-disclosure.
