Abstract
With boundary lubrication, the surfaces of the conjugate bodies are separated by a layer of lubricant of very small thickness. The presence of a boundary layer or boundary film reduces the frictional forces, in comparison with friction without a lubricant, by 2-10 times and reduces the wear of the conjugated surfaces by hundreds of times.
