Abstract
The present work concentrates on the process developments of stir casting and experimental study on the effects of MgO on Aluminium Alloy LM14 were carried out. During this investigation, MgO powder was reinforced with Aluminium LM14 alloy and was prepared using stir casting route with various weight percentage combinations of MgO. The physical parameters viz. density and other mechanical parameters were estimated by conducting the tensile, compressive, hardness and impact tests. The aluminum LM14 alloy strength was improved in the presence of MgO addition. Finite element method was employed in this work. Experimental results were in good agreement with numerical results.
