Effectiveness of Cognitive- Analysis Psychotherapy in reducing impulsivity of Men with Borderline Personality Disorder

Abstract
Intruduction: Borderline personality disorder cause emotional distress like impulsivity. Purpose: The purpose of current research is the Effectiveness of Cognitive- Analysis Psychotherapy in reducing impulsivity of Men with Borderline Personality Disorder Methods: This research was a semi-experimental with pretest- posttest design with a two months follow-up. Population in this study consisted all the men with borderline personality disorder admitted to a psychiatric clinic and psychiatric hospital of Farabi in 2013 in Kermanshah city. 40 people were selected based on purposive sampling method and were placement using random sampling method in two experimental and control groups. For gathering data Structured Clinical Interview for personality disorders, Millon clinical multiaxial inventory and impulsivity scale, were used. The gathered data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance. Results: Findings of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that Cognitive- Analysis Psychotherapy was effective in reducing of impulsivity in men with borderline personality disorder. Conclusion: According to our findings, Cognitive- Analysis Psychotherapy is a useful strategy for reducing impulsivity in patients with borderline personality disorder and it can be used as a suitable intervention.
