Abstract
The conclusions of this study: the funeral process; between past and present, it has been changed a lot. According to as now the technology has developed and people get to know earlier, also people now know a lot more about religion and their awareness has increased in funerals; the clothing style has been changed at the same time. In the past, this ceremony would go on only in the dead's house, but nowadays they practice it under tents and in specialized holes. The social roles of the funeral have been changed. Before, social relationships were stronger; people then were going to funerals as a theological and social duty, but now people go for shame and blaming. After that because of change in the way people live in Erbil. The modality and intention behind funeral have been changed. Those changes in funeral significations and its functions are shown. Control Social function. Social solidarity, breaking funeral early, clothing colors over and above black, no lamentation, decreasing visit time to the grave, remembering.
