Abstract
ABSTRACT Radar resolution has been improved by using Pulse compression codes. Many techniques have been used to get pulse compression, including frequency modulation, phase modulation techniques etc. while implementing these techniques, radar systems suffer from sidelobes phenomenon even with Barker codes. These sidelobes can be minimized by using mismatched filters. But using these mismatched filters, in design aspect it increases hardware complexity, cost, area and power consumption. In this paper a new technique is proposed to suppress the sidelobes of radar signals that result from standard matched filtering. This new technique is applicable for any type of binary coding signalsand a weighting function is utilized to shape the sidelobe energy in an iterative manner that will yield more sidelobe reduction.
