Abstract

The characteristic of the ecological condition of atmospheric air in the Magnitogorsk city is proposed. The tendency of increased gross emissions of harmful substances from mobile sources has identified. An increase in the intensity of volume of traffic in the context of limited throughput of town mains leads to the decrease in progression speed of traffic flow and to the increase in emissions of harmful substances contained in the flue gases of cars. The calculation of gross emissions and modelling the process of its dispersion have concluded that, recently, there are a lot of housing facilities and social infrastructure of Magnitogorsk city in the area exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of harmful substances (MPC). Nowadays, the procedures of emissions' standardization from vehicles in cities contained in the current regulatory and legal documentation are insufficiently regulating that process and require the significant elaboration. To improve the condition of atmospheric air and to reduce the negative impact of harmful substances on the health of the city's population, set of activities should be developed to reduce exhaust emissions from internal combustion engines and to minimize its dispersion.
