Abstract
This article considers main concepts and causes of mudslides that occur in mountain rivers due to heavy rains and melting snow. There have been presented the Classification of the types of mudslide flows, kinds of installations and anti-mudslides measures. The main conditions of mudslide-forming in the river pools on the territory of Ukrainian Carpathian and Crimea mountains are: the possibility of intensive slope and channel runoff due to falling out of significant rain and snowfalls; the presence of mud pools sufficient amount of loose rock; the presence of such a tilt mud beds and adjacent slopes, which provide the ability of landslide and subsequent flooding mass transportation. In accordance to the objects the measures of protection are divided into three main groups: organizational and economic, agri-forest land reclamation and technical. The choice of the installations and measures of the engineering protection of the territories, buildings and settings should be maintained basing on technical and economical comparison of the variants of prevention and protection, including all the types of actions and deformations, the level of object responsibilities, the value of buildings and installation which have been under protection, their constructive and operational features, rational land exploitation , city-building requirements, the volume of spends, which have been prevented.
