Abstract
This paper presents a exploratory research based on a case study of an educational hypermedia tool for simulation of proficiency tests in Japanese language. The techniques used to recommend topics of study are based on some principles of the Relevance Theory. A domain ontology is used to represent the knowledge structure. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of this proposal by showing the development process, the formalization process, some examples, the representation and methods chosen. The purpose of this research is to understand what happens when suggestions of topics of study are offered to the user. These suggestions are based on the relevance of each topic and leave the possibility to the user to decide which learning path he will take.
