Abstract
A biometric system provides automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by the individual. Iris recognition is the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system. The iris recognition system consists of an automatic segmentation system that is based on the Hough transform. This system localizes the circular iris and pupil region. Also occluding eyelids are located and removed by linear Hough Transform. Occluding eyelashes are removed by thresholding Techniques. The effect of specular reflections is reduced by Morphological opening and closing operation.
