Abstract
To evaluate the performance of diesel engine, various experiments are carried out with high grade Low Heat Rejection LHR–3 combustion chamber, a superni crown, and a cylinder coated with ceramic material which is headed with neat diesel having varied injection pressure. While analysing and comparing the parameters of performance including: volumetric efficiencies, thermal efficiencies, exhaust gas temperature, sound levels etc., at discrete values of brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) of the LHR–3 combustion chamber and with neat diesel operation on conventional engine (CE) at same configuration, it is found that the engine with LHR–3 combustion chamber showed deteriorated performance at manufacturer's recommended injection timing of 27o bTDC. The Injection pressure changed from 190bar to 270bar with an increment of 40bar.
