Abstract
Lingual appliances marked a great leap forward in aesthetic orthodontics. Due to their distinct biomechanics compared to conventional orthodontics, special care must be taken in their application. As mini-plate and implants are new in orthodontics, the in depth knowledge about their mechanical changes are limited. In this study, stress and deformation on prosthetic implant was evaluated during mini-plate assisted canine and en-masse retractions in lingual orthodontics using finite element method. The results obtained indicated that the stress and deformation values were higher during mini-plate assisted canine retraction than en-masse retraction.
