Abstract
Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drive is frequently gaining popularity due to their high efficiency, good dynamic response and low maintenance. Therefore, it is necessary to have a low cost, but effective BLDC motor speed/torque regulator. This paper presents a comparison of different control strategies for Brushless DC (BLDC) motor which the controllers has been designed by using two types of control strategies first one addresses the PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controller based on pole placement technique and the second one addresses the IMC (Internal Model Control) controller by closed loop control strategy. The simulation results are carried out by using MATLAB/SIMULINK successfully for closed loop operation of the three phases BLDC motor. The performance characteristics i.e. speed and load torque of a BLDC Motor compared for both with and without PID and IMC controllers. The results presented validate control strategies in improving the motor performance
