THE SIMULATOR FOR TRAINING OF PERIAPICAL SURGERY SKILLS

The issue of training of skills for work in oral cavity is one of the urgent ones at training of students and doctors majoring in dentistry. Recent graduates are afraid to use their knowledge due to stress and the lack of practical experience. The education methodology with usage of simulators and homunculus can help, as its main advantage is gaining clinical experience, which is safe for patients. At all the diversity of stimulators presented in scientific literature, we have not found a homunculus to train periapical surgery skills. Therefore, we developed the method to construct such simulator. Homunculus was constructed and tested successfully in the clinic of Chair for Surgical Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery in Irkutsk State Medical University.
