Abstract

The paper presented herein investigates the effects of using supplementary cementitious materials (SCM) in binary and quaternary blends on characteristic compressive strength of high strength concrete. A total of 8 concrete mixtures were designed having a constant water/binder ratio of 0.34 and total binder content of 402 Kg/m3 . The control mixture contained only ordinary portland cement (OPC) as binder whereas others incorporated binary and quaternary blends of OPC, fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS). The results of compressive strength, upon comparison with the results of conventional concretes will help to identify optimum percentages of SCMs for different combinations in order to obtain quaternary cement concrete of desirable strength with uncompromised performance and quality.
