Abstract
Sustainable design is a design approach adapted to enhance the quality of the indoor environment by minimising the negative impacts of natural environment on buildings. It is a design concept which will include sustainable development concept in terms of ideas into sustainable building envelope design. This study is carried out aiming to examine the role of solar orientation, wind velocity and temperature as factors for sustainable design by analysing the impacts of these factors on building sustainability using Simulation and Analysis Model. The model was validated by comparing the energy efficiency of an institutional building with sustainable development concept and without sustainable development concept. It is experienced that the introduction of sustainable development concept in terms of modifications enhances the energy performance of building and building environment bringing sustainability to the surroundings. The results show that there is a energy saving of 45.6% when compared to the existing consumption
