ADENOID CYSTIC CARCINOMA OF LACRIMAL GLAND IN A YOUNG POST-PARTUM FEMALE, A CLINICO PATHOLOGICAL CASE REPORT

Abstract
A 22 year old female, delivered 4 months back, presented to the Ophthalmology Department, with complaints of prominence of right eye for past 3 years and pain and watering in right eye for the past 6 months. Ocular examination of right eye revealed downward and inward proptosis. There was decreased sensation in maxillary distribution of trigeminal nerve. Vision was 6 - 18. Anterior segment examination of left eye was normal. Fundus examination was normal in both eyes. CT Orbit (contrast) in right eye revealed a soft tissue lesion 4 x 3 cms in superolateral wall of orbit involving lateral rectus, infiltrating roof and lateral orbital walls. CT Brain revealed normal study. USG Abdomen was normal. Right lateral orbitotomy with subtotal excision of lacrimal gland was done. Specimen was subjected for histopathological examination, which revealed cribriform pattern of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. Post operative adjuvant radiotherapy was given.
