Abstract

Roadways are the most predominately used transport mode in the worldwide, especially Indian has total ROAD NETWORK length of 35lakh km which consist of national highway, state highway, major district road, other district roads and village roads. The geometry of highway which consist of horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, cross slope super elevation. To reduce the travel time to the CBD area, airport etc, most of the highways is upgraded with elevated highway. most the elevated highway drainage system networks are not maintained properly. On elevated highway road surface most of runoff water is going to be wasted because of in sufficient drainage network, improper maintenance and geometry of highway. Runoff water thus need to be safely disposed to the rivers/outlet channels so that the functional utility of the road infrastructure maintained and thereby avoid the damages which otherwise occurred to the road and property. The objectives of this study was to study of road network geometry, Rainfall data, Drainage system network, collection point for drainage water & used same for the ecology development and irrigation engineering practice purpose. Case study was conducted for the road network from Hebbal junction to International airport via elevated highway from June 2016 to march 2017.Data collected was then be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Analyzed data is presented in tables. It was found that the existing road drainage network is not effectively enough to collect effectively for the aimed purposes, improper maintenance. It was also found data the elevated highway drainage system should be linked to an integrated drainage network section of 2m x 3m. same can be used for the ecology development and This will help us come out of water crisis problems.
