Abstract

The turning point of village economic development was started from the birth of the Law No. 6 of 2014 on Village. Villages now become subjects, no longer solely the object of development. The problem in this research is what is the potential of the village economy, how far the role of rural human resources, and what local products can improve the economic development of the village. The research was conducted by qualitative method with interaction method, involved observation and communicative competence. Data was collected by guide interview with informants, participants and stakeholders. The research was conducted in Penglipuran Traditional Village, Bangli, Province of Bali. The results show that the village economic development, in relation to the potential of the village, involves the involvement of village human resources together to build the village economy, and the villagers create village products that can be developed for income generation. The results of the study show that the economic development of villages has the degree of economic improvement through a range of development opportunities, building appropriate efficiency for the villagers, building the village culture, the ability to allocate resources and build harmony communities. These results show that the rural economic development can be established by managing a shift in economic structure from agricultural sector to non-agricultural sector and by improving the quality of human resource.
