Abstract
Construction sites, builders and researchers were facing abundant persuasive reasons to cover the preparation of replacing cement with unused materials such as fly ash, rice husk ash, egg shell, marble powder and other materials. This paper is of one such cement replacement method where we have used beach shells powder. The beach shells which exhibits pozzolanic properties which results in using it as a replacement for cement. The beach shell powder replaced with cement in percentages starting from 30%, 20% and 10% in concrete preparation for grade M20 and M25 concrete mix. Results indicates replacement of cement in a mixture of 10% show a higher compressive strength than the nominal strength. The most optimal value was found to be 10 per cent. Finally, rate analysis also carried out on account of optimal replacement of cement. The tests revealed that the cost of using beach shell powder in concrete is cheaper than the cost of normal concrete prepared using conventional raw materials.
